Sentenced for extortion – after alleged “pedophile hunt”

According to the verdict, the man who was subjected to blackmail came into contact with a woman in a group chat through the messaging app Kik, and then arranged to meet her in Värmland.

Behind the account were in fact three men, who forced their way into the man’s car. They then allegedly pressured the man for money, used an electric shock weapon against his leg. They also allegedly recorded the man and forced him to say that he would buy sex from an underage girl.

Wanted goods at Elgiganten

According to the prosecutor’s description, one of the men allegedly threatened the man that the recording would be spread if he contacted the police, which would drive him to commit suicide.

Later, the threats against the man are said to have continued by demanding that he buy selected goods at Elgiganten to the value of SEK 20,000.

According to the men themselves, they pretended to be a 14-year-old girl, with the aim of posting the material and outing the man on the internet.

All three are sentenced to prison

The man who was victimized claims that the account did not pretend to be a 14-year-old girl and that he arranged to meet the alleged woman because he suspected someone else was behind the account.

The district court, which followed the prosecutor’s line, sentences for, among other things, extortion and attempted extortion and drug offences. Two of them are sentenced to one year in prison each, the third to one year and ten months in prison. They are also ordered to pay damages for infringement.
