Is Baby Reindeer based on a true story?
Yes, Baby Reindeer is thus based on Richard Gadd’s own experiences of being stalked. In 2015, while working in a pub in London, he struck up a conversation with a woman at the bar.
It was the beginning of years of harassment, with the woman in question constantly showing up at Gadd’s work and stand-up gigs. She also sent 41,000 emails, 350 hours of voicemails, 744 tweets, 46 Facebook messages and 106 pages of typed letters, according to 7News.
– At first everyone in the pub thought it was fun that I had an admirer. Then she started to come into my life, stalking me, showing up at my gigs, waiting outside my house, sending thousands of voicemails and emails, Gadd has told The Times.
