The strong words about Zlatan after Milan’s great success in the CL – everyone is now saying the same thing: “But wait now…”

Milan are ready for the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Now everyone says the same thing about Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

“That would be the biggest irony ever,” writes one user.

AC Milan have not been as dominant in the league as last year, when they won their long-awaited Scudetto. Instead, it’s Napoli who stormed forward, and that’s why many people expected the light blue team to advance to the semi-finals when the teams met in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Great CL success

But Milan won the meeting at home with 1-0, and despite a solid cavalcade of chances for Napoli in the return meeting on Tuesday, it was the Milan team that advanced. Olivier Giroud scored in the first half to put Milan up 2-0 on aggregate. But Napoli had chances, most notably through a penalty with ten minutes left to play.

But goalkeeper Mike Maignan saved it, and it didn’t matter that there was an equalizer with minutes to play. Milan won the doubleheader, and now most likely Inter (who have 2-0 against Benfica with them from the first meeting) awaits in the semi-finals. It wasn’t exactly recently that Milan stormed forward in this way in the Champions League, and perhaps it is finally time for Zlatan Ibrahimovic to lift the Champions League crown.

The words about Zlatan

The Swede has never won the tournament, but the fact is the star isn’t even in Milan’s Champions League squad this season, meaning he won’t get a medal if the team were to win. After Milan won the match yesterday, Ibrahimovic was the biggest topic of conversation among supporters – and everyone is now saying the same thing: How typical it would be if Zlatan’s team wins the CL, without him even being in the squad.

“Now wait… Zlatan doesn’t even get a medal if Milan wins? It would have been the height of irony,” writes a major Milan fan account on Twitter.

Why Zlatan is not even in the registered squad, even though he actually played minutes in the league, is unclear. But football expert and profiler Thomas Wilbacher believes that everything is guaranteed to be well thought out.

“I still think Zlatan has a plan for how history will be written if Milan should now happen to win the CL,” he writes.
