If the presence of a mysterious underground lake located under the Opera Garnier in Paris described in novel by Gaston Leroux The Phantom of the Opera, is indeed a legend, it is however true that the building shelters in its basement a reserve of water. Far from being haunted, this tank intended to relieve the underlying pressure of seeping water, also serves as a reservoir in the event of a fire.
