The opposition demands a vote on Jomshof

The opposition wants to depose Richard Jomshof (SD), who is chairman of the justice committee. During the next meeting, they will therefore demand a vote on his position in the committee, they announced during a press conference on Monday morning.
He spreads hateful messages, has called for book burnings and shares posts where the prime minister is called a wretch, says the Social Democrats’ legal policy spokesperson Ardalan Shekarabi.

According to Shekarabi, Jomshof’s actions endanger Sweden’s security, and according to the Left Party’s representative in the justice committee, Gudrun Nordborg, it is unreasonable that he should lead one of the heaviest committees in the Riksdag.

Therefore, a vote on Jomshof’s position as chairman is required at the next meeting which will take place on Thursday 31 August.

– We hope that there are also members from government parties who understand that this is an unsustainable situation. Jomshof has long been noticed for his negative attitude towards immigrants in general and towards Muslims in particular. This has not decreased since he was appointed chairman of the justice committee last autumn – on the contrary, it has increased, says Gudrun Nordborg.

– That he, with his historical background, should lead one of the heaviest committees in the Riksdag is completely unreasonable, she continues.
