The new Batman comes from the director of the greatest

While we are currently taking the last breaths of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), a whole new superhero era is on the horizon. The DC Universe (DCU) will replace the current DC universe from 2025. The Flash, Blue Beetle and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom are the last three films of the old order.

Since January, we’ve known that the new DC Universe will have a own Batman receives. Ben Affleck isn’t coming back. And the films with Robert Pattinson take place in a completely different timeline anyway. The Brave and the Bold introduces us to a version of Gotham’s Avengers that we’ve never seen in cinemas before. It was inspired by Grant Morrison’s comic book of the same name.

The Brave and the Bold horror mastermind Andy Muschietti is bringing the DCU Batman to cinemas

But who will bring the new Batman to the cinema? After some rumors over the past few weeks, Variety has now revealed the name of the director: Andy Muschietti is taking the director’s chair on The Brave and the Bold. He knows his way around DC very well. Because he is the creative mind behind The Flash, which has been in cinemas since Thursday and opens the door to the DC multiverse.

But Mussetti is best known for two other films: It and It Chapter 2. The two-part Stephen King adaptation turned into an unparalleled horror phenomenon in the second half of the 2010s. With a gross of over 700 million US dollars, the first part is even that most successful horror film at all.

Mussetti’s involvement can only mean that Warner is exceedingly happy with his work on The Flash and now has him as one of the first filmmakers power that shape the DCU. Aside from Muschietti, only two directors have been confirmed so far: James Gunn for Superman: Legacy and James Mangold for Swamp Thing.

Gunn is also responsible for the planning and design of the DCU with producer Peter Safran. He takes over the creative role that Kevin Feige has in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His Superman movie starts in July 2025 in the cinema. It is currently not certain when The Brave and the Bold will be released.
