After the third Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts: Secrets of Dumbledore, the future of cinema in the wizarding world is faltering and rumors of a Harry Potter series reboot are circulating. At the same time, the Wizarding World continues to grow elsewhere: the role-playing game will appear on February 10, 2023 Hogwarts legacy and in it an ancestor of Sirius Black will play an important part.
Simon Pegg plays Sirius Black’s great-great-grandfather in Hogwarts Legacy
Wizarding World announced that Harry Potter fans will be ancestral to Sirius in the highly anticipated video game Phineas Nigellus Black (1847-1975) will meet. Before Snape, he was the last Slytherin Headmaster to hold the office of Hogwarts Headmaster in the 19th century.
The Harry Potter character of Phineas Black is brought to life by Simon Peggwhich you probably know from Shaun of the Dead, Star Trek and the Mission: Impossible series.

In an introduction video for Hogwarts Legacy, Simon Pegg describes his Harry Potter character with many negative qualities:
Phineas Black is the one most disliked headmaster in Hogwarts historypompous and uninterested […]. He only wants the job because it’s a prestigious position. I think he has no interest in educating children or being a role model. […] He’s a bit of an idiot […], a self-centered, argumentative, somewhat childish character. ‘Be less like him’ is the message of the game.
After “almost all British actors” were part of the Harry Potter films before him, Simon Pegg is now excited to join this universe as well.
Harry Potter Character Returns: How We Know Phineas Nigellus Black
In the movies, Phineas only had Nigellus Black briefly as a portrait in Dumbledore’s office. Also, his name appeared on the Family Tree Tapestry at Sirius Black’s home at 12 Grimmauld Place. In the books, the ex-Headmaster had a slightly larger role: in Deathly Hallows, Hermione put his 2nd painting (in the Black residence) in his pocket so Phineas wouldn’t spy on them, and Snape (in his 1st painting at Hogwarts ) could report. Which of course happened anyway.

Harry Potter fans know that Sirius Black at his Pureblood family out of character: the white sheep in a black family, so to speak. While the Blacks valued the Dark Arts and belonged primarily to Slytherin house, Sirius ended up in Gryffindor and became Harry’s godfather. So Phineas seems to resemble less Sirius and more like his great-great grandchildren, Bellatrix Lestrange and Narcissa Malfoy.
In Hogwarts Legacy we will probably learn a lot more about Sirius’ ancestor Phineas and the “noble and even ancient House of the Blacks” Experienced.
