heated exchanges between Bellamy and Boyard in front of Sciences Po

The head of the LR list in the European elections, François-Xavier Bellamy and the LFI deputy Louis Boyard fought this Tuesday, May 7, in front of Sciences Po Paris.

Blocked again by pro-Palestinian rallies, Sciences Po Paris was the scene of a heated exchange between François-Xavier Bellamy and Louis Boyard. The head of the Republican list for the 2024 European elections clashed with the elected LFI, accompanied by strong protests from the pro-Palestinian students gathered. MEP LR, who criticizes student blockages, claims to have moved at the request of students hostile to the movement.

“The French people are not complicit with those who support Hamas today, with those who excuse the worst,” said MEP LR to MP Insoumis. “I came here to be the voice of all the students who do not want to see Sciences Po reduced to these permanent blockages, to this permanent exploitation, to this pharmacy of La France insoumise that rue Saint-Guillaume has become,” said he added while the students chanted “UMP, get out!” or even “Siamo tutti antifascisti”.

“You insult the students”

“You go from pretext to pretext every time to never talk about the fact that there is a genocide in Gaza,” retorted Louis Boyard. “These students are asking for peace, a ceasefire and you come to insult them, to say anything,” he said in front of the right-wing candidate in a sterile debate. The leader of the LR list also posted the video of the sequence on his X account (formerly Twitter).

At the beginning of the afternoon, the police evacuated the hundred demonstrators gathered in front of the premises of the establishment. The exams which began this Tuesday morning were “launched normally”, indicated the management of Sciences Po. The police had already intervened this Monday, May 6 in Paris in front of Sciences Po to dislodge activists mobilized for Gaza who had set up tents.
