Malin Moström was loyal to Umeå IK throughout his career and won everything with his beloved club from Västerbotten. In 2007, she left football and disappeared. That’s how she lives today.

Sweden has never seen such a successful team as Umeå IK was in the early 2000s. With players like Hanna Ljungberg, Hanna Marklund but above all Malin Moström, the western bottoms washed over the women’s league and all of football Europe.

Celebrated great successes

Malin Moström was one of the main reasons for Umeå’s unparalleled success. The midfielder, from the small town of Arnäs, was always on the field during the most important matches and what triumphs she got to celebrate.

She made her debut as a 20-year-old in Umeå’s midfield in the 1995 season and immediately became one of the team’s most important players. Malin Moström would win a total of six league titles, but above all two victories in the UEFA Women’s Cup – the Champions League at the time.

But towards the end of 2006, Malin Moström, who was faithful to Umeå throughout her career, announced that she was putting her shoes on the shelf. However, she would make a short comeback the following season to help Umeå, which suffered from several injuries.

That’s how she lives today

In addition to her successful time in Umeå, Malin Moström also played a number of international matches. There were a total of 113 goals and 21 goals, and she was also team captain and represented Sweden in several major championships. Among other things, she won a WC and EC medal during her national team career and also won the diamond ball in 2001.

After her career, she has participated in SVT’s hit program Mästarnas mästare in 2009, where she finished in second place.

But in addition to that, she has largely stayed away from the sport. During her years as a soccer player, she trained in economics and is a profession she works in today. She has also become a mother and has two daughters.
