In 2024, the Grand Splatch will be completely remastered to better immerse its visitors in the Gallic universe. The attraction now tells a story, and changes its name!

On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Parc Astérix and the 65th anniversary of the comic strip, many new features await visitors. Next year, a new attraction, the Tour de Numérobis, will see the light of day. These are flying chairs hoisted to a height of 40 meters. The park is also planning a crazy musical, new characters, a new float for the Gallic Parade… As for the Grand Splatch, it is completely changing its name!

Besides, who hasn’t already come out dripping wet, from head to toe, after venturing into the Grand Spatch? This flagship attraction of Parc Astérix, opened to the public 35 years ago, is getting a facelift in 2024. Created in 1989, “we said to ourselves that we absolutely had to tell the story of Asterix and Obelix”, explains Delphine Pons, general director of the park, during a press conference. It is true that the attraction had until then little connection with the world of René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. This time, the pirates, emblematic characters of the comics, take their revenge: it is their turn to try to sink the Gauls. “As soon as you enter the attraction, we see the last wreck, and we find ourselves in the pirates’ HQ, who are preparing their plan of revenge. Red Beard will brief his troops on the plan he has in mind, with traps to sink the Gauls“(we, the visitors, editor’s note) who will ultimately emerge unscathed, but well watered,” explains the director.

On a 627 m long route, young and old will be able to travel through the world of the famous Pirates of the comic strip. Beware of pirates who will be hidden in moving barrels or behind bushes. “We are confronted with the sirens of the 12 labors of Asterix, we are sprayed with water, then at the end of the plant tunnel is the exit“, continues Delphine Pons. But be careful, the Gauls are never far away!
