The Energy Agency is tasked with “encouraging and supporting” stress tests in the energy sector, the government writes in a press release.

“Encouraging and supporting the implementation of stress tests can be to inform, provide materials, train or anything else that the authority deems appropriate,” the mission description states.

The background is that the European Council wants to see an EU-joint strategy to strengthen the resilience of the critical infrastructure.

The task includes finding out by November at the latest how the stress tests have gone – or investigating why they have not been carried out.

In February next year, the authority must report what they have learned.
