The sports world is in mourning after the terrible announcement.
Racing talent Joel Pearson has passed away, he was only 19 years old.
“Rest in peace mate, you will be missed forever,” the R Racing team wrote in a statement.

The big dream since childhood was to reach Formula 1. The racing talent Joel Pearson reached Formula 4 as a teenager, but then came the terrible news that changed everything.

16 years old

At the beginning of 2021, Joel suffered from an unusual and aggressive form of bone cancer, when he was only 16 years old. He managed to fight his way back and returned to competition again that same year.

But only a year later the pains returned again. And after examinations, it turned out that the cancer had returned and the body was getting worse.

Dream came true

But he refused to give up on his dream of a career in racing and began to look at options to race anyway. Last year he also had the opportunity to drive a GT4 at Silverstone with Team BRIT, which has drivers with functional variations.

A dream come true for Joel Pearson.
– When they found the cancer the first time, it was horrible to lie in the hospital bed and be forced to watch my friends drive on TV, when it had been taken from me. I was starting to think I’d never get the chance to get behind the wheel again, but seeing what Team BRIT is doing has given me new hope. “To get this second chance is amazing,” Pearson said after that opportunity.

But now the new shock news has arrived. Joel Pearson has passed away in the aftermath of cancer, he was only 19 years old. The Brit’s former racing team R Racing confirms the terrible news of death.
“It is with heavy hearts that we have to tell you that we have been told that one of our own, Joel, has passed away. After a long battle with cancer, Joel fell asleep last night, surrounded by his loved ones. All our thoughts go out to his family,” the team wrote in a statement.
“Joel, you will always be part of our team and the R Racing family. Rest in peace mate, you will be forever missed.”
