The giant sawing from Norway after Sweden’s big fiasco in the EC qualifier against Austria says it all: “Humiliation”

On Tuesday evening, Sweden lost the EC qualifying match against Austria with 1-3. Despite several good chances for Sweden in the first half, it was the away team who stepped out in the second half and took the lead early on. And then it just went downhill.

Three minutes later it was 2-0, and soon the score was 3-0 after that Isak Hien caused a penalty like Austria’s Marko Arnautovic managed. Despite a consolation goal from Emil Holm in the 90th minute, the Swedish defeat was a fact.

After the loss, the possibilities are now minimal for Sweden to make it to the European Championship in 2024. This is noted by our neighboring country Norway.

They also point out that Sweden finished last in their Nations League group last year, a group that also included Norway, and that Sweden therefore cannot make it to next year’s championships through that tournament.

Sweden’s next match in the European Championship qualifiers is played against Belgium in October.
