The European Commission has carried out an investigation into whether the new environmental zone in Stockholm, which will be introduced on 31 December, is legal.
After the implementation of this, they now give their approval for the introduction of the zone.

The environmental zone will include all petrol and diesel cars, as well as plug-in hybrids.
Commercial vehicles and taxis are also covered by the environmental zone. Police cars, ambulances, transport services and other community services are exempted, as are vehicles with parking permits for the disabled.

The environmental zone covers 20 blocks in the area between Kungsgatan, Sveavägen, Birger Jarlsgatan and Hamngatan.
When the environmental zone comes into force, it will be the first of its kind in the world according to the environmentalist Lars Strömgrencity of Stockholm traffic council.
– This means that the introduction of the environmental zone continues as planned. On the night of New Year’s Eve 2024, Stockholm will be the first in the world to port petrol and diesel cars from part of the City.
