the conference on the reconstruction of Derna results in modest

After contemplating the disasters caused in Derna on Wednesday, the companies met in Benghazi on Thursday to discuss reconstruction with the authorities. Neither costing nor timetable has been finalized.

Chinese and Italian companies have offered to rebuild dams destroyed by the storm. But many projects involved more human-sized sites. Two French NGOs are proposing to rehabilitate a care center. Medical aid remains an emergency, 50 days after the tragedy.

This project aims to open a multi-service center in which there will be a clinic that will provide primary care. We will also offer psychological care support. And this building that we are going to select will be a building that was affected by the floods, which will allow us to rehabilitate it. », explains Raif Wafa, Libya director of the NGO Super Novae:

France is financing the 500,000 euros of the project. But like the rest of the European Union, the country only participated in the conference as a technical observer. The government of Benghazi, not recognized by the international community, will still have to wait before announcing vast urban projects, as it wanted to do in the aftermath of the tragedy.
