The perpetrator fired wildly with an automatic weapon at free weekend shoppers in Farsta centrum.

The shooter claims in questioning that he was forced to carry out the act and was “controlled” via a messaging app:

– It’s a person I’ve been in contact with the whole time who tells me what to do, says the 20-year-old in questioning.

  • Last summer, a 20-year-old man opened fire in the Farsta center and killed two people. The trial begins today.
  • Four people are charged with the shooting, three are suspected of murder.
  • The 20-year-old shooter admits to the murders – but claims he was forced into the act under threats. One of his cronies has another evasion: He claims he didn’t know people were going to be killed.
  • What speaks against their defense are chat conversations – which suggest that the act was planned.

    chevron-down

On Saturday 10 June last year, many people were on the move in Farsta centrum in southern Stockholm.

On the way to the place by car was also a 20-year-old man together with his friend of the same age. According to the investigation, they were armed with an automatic carbine.

    The mission: to shoot.

When the two young men arrived at the scene, one got out, while his partner remained in the car. Then he opened fire and fired indiscriminately into the crowd. People fled for their lives, several were shot and two – 15-year-old Elias and 43-year-old Tesfamichal – were shot dead.

The investigation has shown that none of them were targets.

    The explanation: Was pressured

Today, Wednesday, the trial begins. A total of four people are charged with involvement in the shooting – three of them are suspected of murder.

A 20-year-old man has been identified as the shooter. And he admits.

    – I was pressured to do it, says the 20-year-old in questioning. If I don’t, things will happen to me and my family.

He claims that he got into a fight with some people and was then given an ultimatum: pay a sum of money or get in trouble.

    – I found out what I’m going to do a few days before via Signal, an encrypted chat. It’s a person I’ve been in contact with all along who tells me what to do. I don’t know who the person is, says the 20-year-old in questioning.

    – He has explained that the reason for that is that he himself has been subjected to threats, to be killed or that relatives would be killed if he did not carry out the deed, says the 20-year-old’s lawyer Markus Bergdahl.

Thought they were going to rob

The accused shooter’s friend, who was driving the car, says in questioning that they went to Farsta for a robbery.

    – He has thought that something else is going to happen in Farsta and it is with those intentions that he goes there. Then the unimaginable happens, about which he has no information whatsoever. His intent is not covered by the deed, the man’s lawyer Mark Safaryan has previously said.

“Brother all you see, just pat”

According to the prosecutor, the shooting in Farsta had connections to the gang criminal environment.

The now split Foxtrot network was behind the shooting, which was aimed at a local group, according to the prosecutor.

But the chats between the suspects paint a different picture.

In a group chat called “yup bara”, slang for “kill bara”, instructions were planned and given about what was to happen in Farsta.

The messages began to be sent at midnight on June 10.

One of the people who writes uses the alias “Expressgrillen”. An alias which, according to the investigation, is linked to the identified 20-year-old shooter.

“Solve change then. Let’s meet in Årstaberg where I’ll change and then it’s New Year,” writes the 20-year-old, among other things.

In the group chat, “Expressgrillen” receives messages from another alias before the shooting. These are instructions. That alias has been linked to another man who appears in the investigation.

“Brother everyone you see, just pat” it says.

“Take as many as you can. Cod brother.”

A third alias in the group chat writes like this before the shooting:

“You have to put the shots in the stomach.”

“But put a maximum of 25 shots.”
