France inflation slows in April

(Finance) – Higher-than-expected inflation data in France in April. According to the preliminary estimate released by theFrench National Statistical Institute (INSEE), consumer prices are indicated to decelerate on an annual basis to 2.2% from 2.3% in the previous month. The figure is higher than the 2.1% consensus.

On a monthly basis, growth of 0.5% is estimated, in line with consensus, after +0.2% in March.

L’harmonized index, a measure used by the ECB, indicates a trend growth of 2.4%, higher than expected (+2.2%, compared to +2.4% in the previous month). On a monthly basis, there was a change of +0.6% against the expected +0.5% and the previous +0.2%.
