The Batman 2 and Netflixs horror genius battle over iconic

Batman villain Clayface has not yet appeared in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC plan. When it comes to The Haunted House and Midnight Mass creator Mike Flanagan, that’s about to change. The Director of some of Netflix’s biggest horror hits reportedly wants to make a movie about the DC villain. Due to The Batman 2, the situation around Clayface is a bit confusing again.

Where does DC villain Clayface end up?

According to Deadline, Flanagan pitched a Clayface movie for DC to Gunn and Safran in a meeting. What came out of it is not known. Sources have only told Deadline that the director doesn’t want to make the Batman supervillain a purely evil character in his film version.

Also, it should be clear that Flanagan didn’t pitch Clayface as part of Gunn and Safran’s DC Elseworlds universe, which includes films like The Batman and Joker starring Joaquin Phoenix. That could also be the reason why the two film bosses are still hesitating. According to other Deadline sources Clayface may be part of The Batman 2 become.

Flanagan already reacted to the deadline article on Twitter, but did not clearly deny the message:

Today’s news is purely speculative. If or if anything like this ever becomes real, I promise I’ll tell you. 🙂

So far, there has not been a live-action version of the Batman villain. Various Clayface versions exist in the DC Comics. What they all have in common is that the villain deforms his body out of clay and such assume any form as camouflage can. Incidentally, Clayface had a bizarre appearance in the animated Harley Quinn series – as a chair:

We’ll probably have to wait a little longer until it’s clear in what form we’ll see a live-action version of the Batman villain. The Batman 2 is scheduled for October 2, 2025 come to German cinemas.
