Congolese Ardi Dasylva Ndembo dies after fight in Miami

Ardi Dasylva Ndembo, boxer from Congo-Brazzaville, died Thursday April 25 in a hospital in Miami, United States. For two weeks, he had been interned and plunged into a coma after a knockout during his fight against the Cuban Nestor Santana.

The images on his Facebook page say a lot about him: Ardi Dasylva Ndemba lived for boxing. He died at the age of 27 on Thursday April 25 after a fight in the heavyweight category which left him in a coma for two weeks. The Congolese boxer was interned at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami following trauma accentuated, according to Congolese media, by falling on his head during the knockout against the Cuban Nesto Santana.

The fight against Santana was the ninth of Ndembo’s career, having won his first eight, including seven by knockout.

Based in South Africa for his career, Ardi Dasylva Ndembo grew up in the Maya-Maya district, not far from Brazzaville airport, and started boxing in his country. Twice champion of Congo, he scoured the amateur categories with more than 100 fights and a ranking in the top 10 amateur before signing professional in 2019 with Global Boxing Star.

In the images on his Facebook page, he liked to pay tribute to his icons, Mohamed Ali or Mike Tyson, he also revealed his affection for Real Madrid, and affirmed his passion for the French rapper Booba whom he had met in 2011 in Brazzaville .
