The 20-year-old will appeal the life sentence for the murder of Tove in Vetlanda.

This is stated by her defender Clea Sangborn for TT.

On Wednesday, a 20-year-old and an 18-year-old were sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Tove, 21 years old.

The district court states in the judgment that the decisive evidence consisted of the coroner’s information that the cause of death was strangulation.

Clea Sangborn, the 20-year-old’s defender, disagrees. During the trial, Sangborn stated that Tove did indeed die of suffocation, but said that it was not clear that she died of strangulation.

Sangborn said the suffocation could have been caused by stomach contents entering the lungs – something she stands by.

– The coroner initially said that there was uncertainty about stomach contents in the lungs. Then she changed her mind, takes it back and writes a statement that says the strangulation was the main reason, says Clea Sangborn.

The 20-year-old woman has admitted that she moved Tove’s body and tried to set it on fire, but denied murder. According to the 20-year-old, there was a fight during which she strangled Tove, but it was short-lived and she had no intention of Tove dying.

They will therefore appeal the verdict.

– Just because you are a coroner and appear to be safe, does not mean that you are right. Therefore, we want to appeal and have the matter tried once more in the Court of Appeal.

Clea Sangborn has not yet spoken to her client.

– I have just found out where she is. But I know she wants to appeal if it’s life imprisonment.
