Sylvester Stallone recently starred in Samaritan as a retired superhero. The Amazon action has caused horror among many German fans since it was released. The star has an unusual dubbing voice there, which many dismiss as an absolute miscast. The speaker is anything but new. And has proven its worth in several mega performances of the actor.

First of all, it wasn’t just randomly replacing one voice with another. Stallone’s regular German spokesman Thomas Danneberg, who also dubbed Terence Hill, among other things, retired in 2019. But not without a proper goodbye.

And while Danneberg’s well-deserved retirement is hard for many fans to get over, many viewers’ anger is directed at Stallone’s supposedly “new” voice acting. “It’s not possible“, can be read more frequently in the YouTube comments under the German trailer. “Horrible” calls her another community member.
The voice belongs to none other than the German cinema star Jürgen Prochnow (Das Boot, The Da Vinci Code – Sakrileg). So it’s no hurriedly cast stranger dubbing Stallone here. Most importantly, it’s not the first time he’s done it.
As some fans may not know, Prochnow Stallone has already lent his voice to the mega hit Rocky, the sequel Creed II or the action hit Rambo: Last Blood. So the actor was heard 46 years ago as the German version of the Hollywood star.
Having to get used to Prochnow’s tone of voice is absolutely understandable. However, about the poor selection of the “new” to complain dubbing voice, just doesn’t make much sense.
