Tennis: The bang in the Australian Open – Jannik Sinner with a huge turnaround

Jannik Sinner had reached his first career grand slam final by knocking out giant Novak Djokovic.

But on the other side of the net was another seasoned gentleman in the form of world number three Daniil Medvedev who made his third Australian Open final.

And Sinner, ranked fourth in the world, got off to a nightmare start.

The Italian lost the first two sets and was really out of sorts. But slowly but surely he would pick up the slack.

He won the third set 6–4, the fourth with the same numbers and forced a deciding set.

There was final debutant Sinner the safety himself.

The 22-year-old Italian took home his first career grand slam title with the numbers 3–6, 3–6, 6–4, 6–4, 6–3.

– It is a big victory for me. I want to thank my team and everyone back home. I try to get better every day so I’m happy to have you, says Sinner.
