A popular event aimed at those in technology-related fields is slated to return next week.

A popular event aimed at those in technology-related fields is slated to return next week.

Organized by WEtech Alliance, TeCK Week YQG will run March 21 to March 27 and offer a series of sessions featuring tech leaders, researchers, investors and talent.

The fifth-annual event will be delivered entirely online. Guests include Anthony Di Iorio, co-founder of Ethereum and founder and CEO of Decentral; Susan R. Crystal, the US consul general in Toronto; and Kelly Hoey, a networking expert, speaker and author.

“WEtech Alliance is thrilled to bring TeCK Week YQG to our clients, partners and regional tech community,” said president and CEO of WEtech Alliance, Yvonne Pilon, in a release Wednesday.

“The pandemic has highlighted just how important a vibrant, innovative technology industry is to our society, economy and daily lives. Although we had hoped to be back (in real life) this year, the virtual platforms we’ve adopted give us an opportunity to bridge the urban-rural divide by bringing programming to all corners of Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent and beyond. ”

The week is free to attend and provides “unique access to experts and thought leaders” who will be sharing knowledge on topics including emerging technologies and trends, startup growth, mobility, tech talent and community innovation, the organization added.

The schedule for TeCK Week YQG includes:

Monday, March 21

Tech Predictions Day, powered by Deloitte, will give an in-depth look at the top technology, media and telecommunications trends. It will feature Duncan Stewart, co-author of the annual Deloitte Global TMT Predictions 2022 report.

Tuesday, March 22

Tech Women Day by the US consul general will bring women entrepreneurs, leaders and professionals together for an evening of virtual networking. It will feature remarks by Consul General Susan R. Crystal, a fireside chat with Spellbound Founder and CEO Christina York, and a facilitated networking session with expert Kelly Hoey.

Wednesday, March 23

Tech Founder Day by Spoken Artists will focus on helping founders advance their businesses. It will feature Ethereum co-founder, Decentral founder and CEO Anthony Di Iorio. and will touch on cryptocurrency, blockchain, finance and business, as well as Di Iorio’s insights for entrepreneurs looking to grow.

Thursday, March 24

Tech Homecoming Day by WEtech Alliance will bring together Windsor and Chatham-Kent ex-pats, former residents, alumni, newcomers and leaders to reconnect with the place they once called (or will soon call) home for discussions on turning the region into an innovation hub. Confirmed panellists include Jasen Sams, vice president at Rocket Innovation Studio; Joel Paglione, founder of Picks and OakBottle; and Jenny do Forno, head of talent at OMERS Ventures.

Friday, March 25

Tech Mobility Day by Invest WindsorEssex will focus on cross-border opportunities. It will feature Michigan Central Station, a mobility innovation district in Detroit, that brings innovators together in a dynamic urban ecosystem.

March 25-27

Tech Talent Day by WinHacks will explore the world of mobility and feature industry experts and companies who are transforming how to move people and goods.

The 2022 Tech Awards

Powered by TekSavvy Solutions Inc., the awards will honor the region’s technology innovators for their achievements and successes in Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent. Each winner will receive an award created by Andrew Tompsett, owner of Hill Valley Maker. The winners will be revealed throughout the week through a series of tech awards podcasts, hosted by Sarah Haefling, owner of Elevate Podcast Co. and host of the Made it Happen podcast, and shared online through WEtech Alliance’s social media channels.

Additional sessions will include an Innovation Information Forum for women-led businesses and a Diversify Your Supply Chain event powered by Invest WindsorEssex.
