Team Rocket takes over your arenas through heavy Crypto Raids with Mewtwo – Everything about the “Shadows Ascending” event

In Pokémon GO, the Rocket Event “Rising Shadows” awaits you from May 22nd, bringing you the long-awaited Crypto Raids and new matching items. We at MeinMMO show you what you need to know about the new raid format.

Which event is it about? On Monday, May 22nd, a new event called Shadows Rising will start in Pokémon GO. In this, the members of Team GO Rocket will once again play a central role in the game. While you’ve previously only encountered the villains at PokéStops and in balloons, Team GO Rocket will now also be claiming the Arenas for the first time.

You can finally look forward to special Crypto Raids that will even bring Crypto Mewtwo back into the game on May 27th and 28th. What you need to know about the crypto raids, what the new items are all about and what content you can expect for the event, we have summarized below.

When is the event running? The Team GO Rocket Shadows Rising event starts on May 22, 2023 at 10:00 local time and runs until May 28, 2023 at 20:00 local time.

Update from May 18, 3:32 p.m.: We have added all raid bosses, spawns and bonuses for the “Shadows Ascending” event for you in the post.

These are the new crypto raids

What are these raids? During the event, the members of Team GO Rocket will again be particularly active and will even take over the arenas for the first time. For this reason, you can meet different Crypto Raid bosses there. If you defeat them, you have the chance to secure this.

How strong will the Crypto Raid bosses get? The new Crypto bosses will be dominating the raids at different difficulty levels, so keep an eye out for them in level 1, level 3, and level 5 raids.

According to Niantic, however, they should not be that easy to defeat, because Team GO Rocket relies on strong specimens. Especially Crypto-Mewtwo will be interesting for you. The following monsters also await you:

marked.

And that’s not all, because they bring another special feature: bosses of level 3 and level 5 raids get angry when you fight them. This in turn increases their attack and defense. In order to defeat them, you should not only collect enough trainers with strong counters, but also rely on the new items.

How many trainers you need in the fight against the various Crypto Raid bosses remains to be seen for the moment. Can you participate remotely?

No, to participate in a crypto raid you have to play on site. Participation via long-distance raid is unfortunately not possible.

This is what the new raids look like Will there also be normal raids?

Yes, regular raids can still take place on all arenas that are not occupied by Team GO Rocket during the event. The following raid bosses await you there:raidsPokemon

You have to note that:

While you usually get a team bonus for the Premier Balls after a won Raid, there will be no such bonus for the Crypto Raids won. So be prepared to catch fewer balls. The new items at a glance

  • What new items are there? In addition to the new crypto raids, there will also be three new items that you can use in the fight against the crypto raid boss:
  • Crypto Shards: These are mysterious gemstone fragments that you can get by battling Team GO Rocket, similar to the Mysterious Pieces. You must collect these to get a redeemed gem.
  • Shard Melter: This item is an item developed by Professor Willow, a kind of converter to put together the collected mysterious gem fragments.
  • Redeemed Gem:

If you have assembled the collected parts, you will be rewarded with a “purified gem”. You need this in the fight against the Crypto Raid Boss.

In the video below, we show you how to track down the members of Team GO Rocket:

What good does the redeemed gem do in battle? In order to give you an advantage in battle, you should use redeemed gems. These temporarily weaken the Crypto Raid Boss’ attack and defense if you use them during combat.

Can multiple purified gems be used?

Yes, you can use multiple of these redeemed gems during a raid to give yourself an advantage in battle. You should definitely use this as a team. If you use them at the same time, the effect will be stacked. If enough of these gems have been used, then you tame the raid boss, he is no longer angry and can be defeated.
