Swedish giant rage after double podium places – Frida Karlsson and Edvin Anger rage against Norway: “It’s childish”

There were double Swedish podium places in the sprint in Trondheim.
But there was still great dissatisfaction among the Swedish riders.
– It is ridiculous, says Edvin Anger to Sportbladet.

Another Swedish sprint success was achieved on Friday. Lynn Svahn came in a fantastic second place, her best placing in the World Cup since January 2021. Emma Ribom took third place.

Booed the Swedes

Ribom has won both sprints held this season, but during the sprint in Trondheim the Norwegian sprint phenomenon Kristine Stavås Ski town simply too strong. Skistad has been third and second in the sprints earlier in the season.

But despite two fine podium places, all was not quite right for the Swedes. Before the races, the Norwegian audience booed when the Swedish names were read out over the loudspeakers.
– I heard them and thought “did they boo or shout weey”. If you have to push others down to build up your own confidence, it’s rarely a good sign. It’s a bit unsporting, says Maja Dahlqvistwho went out in the semi-finals of the sprint, to Sportbladet.

Karlsson rages

Edwin Angerwho also went out in the semi-finals, agrees with Dahlqvist that the Norwegian crowd’s behavior is unsportsmanlike.
– It is ridiculous from such a big skiing nation as Norway. They should think it’s funny that we come here and challenge them and want a match, says Anger to the evening newspaper.

Frida Karlsson says that it does not affect her that the Norwegians boo, but criticizes the action anyway.
– I think it’s childish. There are probably a lot of children’s classes here, but they will soon grow up too. I suck at it and am quite focused on what I have to do, says Karlsson, who also went out in the semi-finals.
