Sweaty action starring Sylvester Stallone who almost lost his life
Sylvester Stallone risked his health for many films. But apparently for no film more so than for the sports action of Rocky IV – The Fight of the Century, which he says he found himself in sustained the worst injury of his career and almost died. And because of a candid fight. Amazon Prime: Action scene in Rocky IV nearly cost Sylvester Stallone his life

Speaking to fans online on Ain’t It Cool, he explained:

The worst injury I had was with Rocky IV. […] The first 20 seconds [des Kampfs gegen Sowjet-Boxer Ivan Drago] are real and after the third repetition with punches to the body, I felt pain in the heart, but ignored it.

In the evening, however, Stallone could hardly breathe and had immensely high blood pressure. He was immediately flown to a hospital where he received a shocking diagnosis:

[Drago-Darsteller Dolph Lundgren] had me hit so hard my heart pounded against my breastbone and started to swell. […] Without treatment, it would have continued to swell until it stopped.

In Rocky IV, Rocky Balboa (Stallone) takes on Russian boxer Ivan Drago (Lundgren) after he beat his friend Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers) to death in the ring. According to Stallone, the clash between the two was meant to express their anger and ferocity, and it was therefore filmed with real strokes.
