Skurup flushes Nils Holgersson: “Not our identity anymore”

The budget for changing the logo is SEK 1 million over the next year, something like Skånska Dagbladet was the first to report on.

In addition to the million amount, half a million has also been added for possible increased costs in 2025 and 2026.

– We’ll see how far it goes, says Skurup’s communications manager Magdalena Hellström.

There are various reasons why the municipality wants to change or replace the logo, one of them is that the municipality does not recognize its self-image in Selma Lagerlöf’s storybook about Nils Holgersson’s journey.

– It’s a children’s book, and we are an expansive municipality with a lot of immigration, it doesn’t quite match how we want to present ourselves to the outside world, she says.

Hear communications manager Magdalena Hellström explain why they want to change the logo, and hear residents’ opinions on the matter.
