Preliminary results from Saturday’s presidential election in Slovakia show there will be a runoff in two weeks between former prime minister Peter Pellegrini and former foreign minister Ivan Korcok.

Liberal Korcok had, when 97 percent of the votes were counted, received 41 percent of the votes, while Pellegrini received just over 37 percent, according to Slovakia’s statistics authority.

None of them thus reach the 50 percent of the votes required for a win in the first round.
