Sarnia police combing Sherwood Village Park for clues on heels

Sarnia police were combing Sherwood Village Park for clues Saturday on the heels of an attempted robbery there the previous night.

A woman was walking her dog by herself in an area of ​​the park behind Oaklea Court around 6:15 pm when she was confronted from behind by an unknown suspect, police said.

“This individual assaulted the female and threw her to the ground while attempting to remove her purse from her. Once the female fell to the ground, the attacker fled the area,” Sarnia police said in a statement issued Saturday.

The woman was taken to hospital by ambulance, treated for her injuries and later discharged, police added.

Sarnia police uniformed patrol and criminal investigations officers were canvassing the area Saturday asking nearby residents for tips and any video surveillance they may have that captured the park or its access points.
