A 27-year-old man was taken to Bluewater Health after allegedly being stabbed in the chest with a sword at a home on Murphy Road, say Sarnia police.

The sword “narrowly” missed vital organs and the victim was being treated in intensive care in the Sarnia hospital for injuries that are not life-threatening, police said. The man’s condition was stable.

Police said the stabbing happened just before 1 am Saturday at a home in the 900 block of Murphy Road when two adult men, roommates, had a heated argument.

Kole Ryan, 29, of Sarnia is charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon. Police said Ryan was being held in custody for a bail hearing expected Tuesday.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Sarnia police criminal investigations division at 519 344-8861, ext. 5300, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
