Rene Dumont pioneer of political ecology

Agronomist, René Dumont discovers the famine in Indochina. Shocked by colonial violence, he turned his back on the French Empire to devote himself to the fight against hunger. Inventor of intensive agriculture after 1945 to respond to the food emergency after the war, becoming aware of the ecological crisis and its impact on agricultural production, René Dumont then questioned his title of first productivist in France and became the pioneer of political ecology.

With his white mane, his red sweater and his outspokenness, he agreed to be the first environmental candidate for the presidential elections in 1974.
