President of Russia Vladimir Putin has visited Ukraine’s Kherson region, says the Kremlin, according to the Reuters news agency.

The Kremlin says Putin has spoken with commanders of Russian forces operating in the region.

According to the news agency Reuters, the commanders told Putin the latest information about the situation at the front.

Russian troops withdrew from the city of Kherson last November and have since sought to strengthen their positions on the other side of the Dnieper.

The Kremlin does not say when Putin visited Kherson.

According to the Kremlin, Putin wished the troops a happy Easter, which for the Orthodox took place last Sunday.

The Russian Interfax news agency reports that Putin also visited the Russian-occupied Luhansk region and met the local National Guard troops there.
