Swimming pools, like many sectors, are suffering from staff shortages and outdoor pools are having an even more difficult time, says Jos van Zijl of the Knopenbad in Montfoort. “We are only open five months a year, which makes it difficult to find staff. Then they have to do something else in the winter.” Alex van Broekhoeven of Laco, with baths in Leerdam, Doorn and Bunnik, among others, is also struggling with a lack of people. “This increases the burden on staff. We have to do the same with fewer and fewer people.”
