This is particularly the case for Rosemary verbenone essential oil which is “an endocrine balancer and a regulator of the pituitary gland and the nervous system, which quickly stops the reflexes linked to snacking and constitutes a powerful appetite suppressant“, explains Danièle Festy in her book “My 1000 essential oil prescriptions” (Editions Leduc). Thanks to the presence of limoneneLemon essential oil also acts on satiety and limits temporary food cravings. Breathing in an essential oil when you feel like eating can be a good way to curb hunger. “They cannot treat the psychological disorders associated with these cravings but help not to break down“, continues the specialist in essential oils. But be careful, these essential oils are highly concentrated products the use of which is not trivial and is not suitable for children under 6 years old, pregnant and breastfeeding women. The people asthmatics and epileptics should seek medical advice before using them.

Simple swallowing formula from the aromatherapist: place a drop of rosemary verbenone or lemon on a neutral tablet to let melt in the mouth (without chewing) when the desire to snack arises or 5 minutes before the meal (to accelerate satiety), with a maximum of 4 doses per day.

Express synergy to breathe: in a bottle, mix equal parts 15 drops of rosemary verbenone EO and 15 drops of lemon EO and 20 mL of edible vegetable oil of your choice. When you feel like eating, uncork the bottle and take 5 deep breaths to stop the urge.

Appetite suppressant hydrosol

Much less concentrated in aromatic active ingredients than essential oils, hydrosols present very few risks of use. “We lend to the hydrosol of officinal sage appetite suppressant properties“allowing you to regulate your appetite and limit sugar cravings for example,” we read in the “Great book of essential oils, hydrosols and vegetable oils” (De Boeck Supérieur). It is used orally: add 1 teaspoon of hydrosol in a glass of water to drink, twice a day.
