Police violence: a French evil?

Police violence a French evil

Three police officers have been on trial since yesterday before the Seine-Saint-Denis Assize Court for the violent arrest in 2017 in Aulnay-sous-Bois of Théo, a young man seriously injured during the intervention. Tomorrow Thursday is another case of police brutality which will be handled this time by the Lyon criminal court: a divisional commissioner will be tried for “complicity in violence by a person holding public authority”.

He is accused of having given inappropriate orders during a yellow vest demonstration in 2019, during which a septuagenarian woman was injured. These procedures are rare: victims of police violence most often have difficulty being heard by the courts. However, they are numerous: violent attacks by the police have become the norm during demonstrations.
