Two police officers in the Stockholm area are charged with serious drug offences, reports Ekot in Sveriges Radio.

The men, who are in their 30s and 50s, are suspected of having handled large quantities of narcotics outside of work last year. According to the prosecutor, it is a larger scale connected to a criminal network.

– These are drugs that have been handled illegally. It has been handled by transporting, repacking and storing it, says prosecutor Marianne Nordström to the radio.

In addition to drug offences, the prosecution includes gross misconduct and breach of confidentiality.

The older man also allegedly tried to pressure a person to become an informant in order to provide information about a gang, writes Dagens Nyheter. The person in question participated in the police’s defector activity.

Among the evidence are photos of drugs at the home of one of the officers, text messages, interrogations and other technical findings. The men deny any crime.
