Pokémon GO: Village players attend crazy Community Day in Las Vegas

Playing Pokémon GO can be very different in the country and in the city. A trainer now reports such a shocking experience. We have summarized what exactly happened to him here on MeinMMO.

Most trainers are now aware that there are always differences between playing in the countryside and in the city in Pokémon GO. Affected players are often left behind, especially during raids or special events.

How huge the differences can actually be can be seen in a trainer’s Reddit post. We at MeinMMO show you what he experienced and how the community reacted to it.

Country coach is completely shocked

What are the differences? Like most other country players, the Reddit user -PM_ME_UR_SECRETS- knows the numerous restrictions that one has to live with in Pokémon GO there. There is often a lack of existing PokéStops and Arenas, which makes it difficult for these players to be able to play on site at special events such as C-Days, Raid or Research Days.

In addition, the local community is often very small or sometimes even non-existent. Many of them therefore travel to larger cities on special event days to compensate for this disadvantage and be able to secure the desired monsters in this way.

-PM_ME_UR_SECRETS- happened to spend his last Community Day in Las Vegas and was just shocked by the magnitude of the differences, which is why he had to share them with the community.

A village player experienced this: In the subreddit for Pokémon GO he therefore posts a picture with a section of the said event day. On this one you can see countless PokéStops, all of which are equipped with Lure Modules, and tons of Fynx spawning around them. There are also 5 arenas in the immediate vicinity where raids take place.

It is therefore immediately clear that a lot of coaches have to play here. A sight that is probably the exception in most rural areas. -PM_ME_UR_SECRETS- makes this clear with a comparison image, where you can see nothing but a gaping emptiness.

In the text he explains (via Reddit.com): “I happened to be in Vegas during Community Day this past weekend and couldn’t believe how alive the game was. Now I’m back home and it’s just depressing to know how the game is supposed to be and what’s in store for me.”

Players agree with coach: ‘I feel for you’

Trainers have had similar experiences: You can quickly find like-minded people in the community, who also confirm in the comments that they are shocked by this sight. Living in the country yourself, you can understand the huge difference. Some of them have even had this blatant experience themselves (via Reddit.com):

  • PedroPrisma: “I’m one of the 10 players my city has.”
  • SvenTurb01: “We have an arena that was cleared about a week ago, completely empty. It’s still unclaimed and just stands there, all gray and sad.”
  • MC-Kirby: “Yeah, no shit. I feel for you buddy, I really do. I was not only in Tokyo during the Flegmon CD in March, but also in the Pokemon Center in Tokyo. I literally couldn’t even see the map on my screen because dozens and dozens of Flegmon were stacked all over the screen, and so many Gold Lure Module PokeStops I couldn’t even rotate them all. But since I’m back home in April? Dead. Nothing. Not a single PokéStop, not a single Gym, and most of the time not even a single damn Hornliu for kilometers. It’s so damn depressing.”
  • jjjunooo: “I feel that. I started playing when I lived in a small town and I had to walk for an hour to do a spin and visit 2 gyms and 4 pokéstops. I wouldn’t say it was completely rural, so at least it wasn’t as bad as some people’s experiences. Last year I moved to a big city outside of the city center and that’s a huge difference!!!”

Trainers want to help and give tips

What coaches recommend: In the comments you can not only find trainers who have had similar experiences, but also a number of tips. Users recommend that the affected village players apply for PokéStops themselves.

All they currently need is trainer level 37 or higher to register with Wayfarer, Niantic’s corresponding page. Alternatively, they could also ask other trainers who already have this level for help. Here’s what you can read (via Reddit.com):

  • technodoki: “You can apply for Pokestops near you. I’ve heard they approve rural stops quicker than urban ones.”
  • Dentunam: “My town was also a ghost town. When I started Pokemon GO, we had maybe 1-2 Gyms and 7-8 PokéStops. After reaching level 38 (before it was reduced to 37) I proposed everything. Now we have 10+ Gyms and 35+ PokéStops. Grind to level 37 with Friendship ASAP and nominate everything!!”
  • In the following article we will show you what this can look like if you do the work and submit tons of stops:

Coaches express criticism of proposals: However, many of those affected find these tips in the comments to be less helpful, because some have already tried them. The main problem is that you don’t have that many approved places to suggest for a new PokéStop.

In addition, submitted suggestions are often rejected by the community and this again and again. This also makes it difficult for village players to get new PokéStops and Gyms (via Reddit.com):

  • atomhypno: “I’ve been trying to do this since I was level 37, but there’s hardly anything to suggest as a PokéStop near me.”
  • RUN-PMT: “I have the same problem, there is nothing around me but forests and swamps. To be honest, I’m considering filing something like ‘Community Dump’.”
  • Qwopmaster01: “Reaching level 37 is not the problem, but allowing stops in rural communities. Rural players are constantly being denied legal PokéStops on grounds such as ‘on a farm’ or ‘privately owned’. Some people just can’t fathom that a town or village exists unless a massive concrete slab appears on Google Maps. In the last year, over 20 PokéStops have been approved in the town where I work, but not a single one in my country village.”
  • But there is another problem: Even if there are enough PokéStops and Gyms on site, they can hardly manage the hard raids, like the upcoming crypto raids with Mewtwo, without the support of other trainers.

So that’s an additional depressing factor for rural trainers, as KntKoko explains on Reddit: “I got 2 of the 4 [Accounts] in my town. I placed my basest monsters in my town’s arenas, and they have remained untouched ever since. And they expect me to be able to beat Crypto-Mewtwo.”

It remains to be seen whether these differences will change in the future. If there is any new information about this, you will find out from us on MeinMMO.

What are your experiences with playing in the city and in the country? Did you also notice such extreme differences? Or are you even trying to apply for new PokéStops in your area yourself? Let us know here on MeinMMO in the comments and exchange ideas with other trainers.
