Plympton Wyoming Fall Fair returns to its roots

WYOMING – There was a strong turnout here Saturday for day two of the once again three-day Plympton-Wyoming Fall Fair.

Plympton and Wyoming Agricultural Society officials said they were excited to return the annual event, dating back to 1846, to its three-day format after reducing to two days last year following a pause during pandemic restrictions. Exhibits, food booths and the midway opened at 5 pm Friday, with opening ceremonies at 7 pm and a barn dance in the livestock building at 8 pm

On Saturday, there was a baby show at 10 am, light horse show and parade at 11:45 am, birds of prey show in the afternoon, plus beef and dairy shows and — new this year — a pie-eating contest at 3 pm The event continues Sunday featuring pet, sheep and heavy horse shows and championship wrestling.

Young students came through the fairgrounds last week to learn about agriculture before the fair kicked off.
