Player finds Dragon’s Dogma 2’s hardest career path after 100 hours

There are ten careers in total in Dragon’s Dogma 2, but you have to earn six of the classes first. The warmaster plays a special role, pushing even players with 100 hours of experience to the limits.

What’s special about Dragon’s Dogma 2’s Warmaster? This career is only available to your Awakened One. With it you can equip all the weapons and armor in the role-playing game and even change the peacemakers smoothly in battle.

You can also combine all weapon skills, as well as the core skills of all classes, with one another. Casting the levitation spell with a magic wand, gaining height, only to then switch to a two-handed sword and fall on the targeted victim with a powerful blow – this is just one of the Warmaster’s countless options.

Does the Warmaster also have weaknesses? Oh yes, some:

  • To unlock the career path, you have to go to the camp on the volcano island (high-level area) and bring Lamond three bottles of newt liqueur, which is quite time-consuming – you can find more details about this in our class guide.
  • The Warmaster has lower base stats than the other classes, making them better in their specialist roles.
  • In order to have access to all the important skills, you have to level the other nine careers. That also takes time.
  • One of the four skill slots is used for the skill that allows you to change weapons in battle. So you only have room for three more skills.
  • The active weapon skills are still tied to your weapons and can only be used if you have the corresponding weapon type in your hand.
  • The perfect class for all Dragon’s Dogma 2 veterans

The effort behind the track and the restrictions that seem annoying at first glance fade away when you become aware of the potential of the game style. PC Gamer’s Fraser Brown, who had already put 100 hours into Dragon’s Dogma 2 in his Warmaster debut, describes the career experience as follows:

The potential [des Kriegsmeisters] is just ridiculous. Each of these ten callings offers so much creative play on their own, and when you combine them all, it’s… well, it’s almost too much to handle.

According to Brown, for example, you have to pay attention to the order in which you change the weapons. If you first want to float into the air and then gouge out a cyclops’ eye with a one-handed sword (the thief’s specialty), you need your one-handed sword directly after the staff so that the timing is right.

However, it is then no longer possible to implement the hover/two-handed attack combination mentioned at the beginning. For Fraser Brown, figuring out and trying out all these combinations is a large part of the fascination, but also the challenge, of the war master.
