One scene alone guarantees nightmares for the next 10 years

Hardly any film proves that horror can shock even without endless jump scares and raging killers better than Ari Aster’s nightmare masterpiece Hereditary – The Legacy the best horror films of recent years counts. Tonight you can see for yourself on TV. But be careful: one scene in particular is unbearably disturbing.

On TV: Hereditary is one of the best horror films of recent years and even traumatized its main actor

Hereditary begins with the funeral of Annie’s (Toni Collette) mother Ellen, which sets off a long series of dramatic events for her family. The loss and grief weigh heavily on the individual members of the family, as does the long history of mental illness among Annie’s relatives.

At first this sounds less like a typical horror film. In fact, Ari Aster’s feature film debut begins as a family drama that unfolds turning more and more into a grueling nightmare by the minute.
