One of the most popular survival games on Steam is about to get an update that sounds so good, players will want to return

The survival game Valheim should get modes in the future. For example, you can gamble in hard mode or much more relaxed. There will also be a build mode.

The developers Iron Gate Studio announced in January 2023 that the modifications would be available soon. Jonathan Smars, the director, now reveals more detailed information about the new feature on Twitter.

Very difficult or very relaxed

“Are you ready for Valheim’s hardcore mode… or do you prefer it more relaxed?” Smars tweeted, followed by a short video showing the upcoming mods for your Valheim worlds. The following presets are available:

  • Easy: Battles are easier and there are fewer attacks on your base
  • Hard: Battles are more difficult and monsters will attack your base more often
  • Hardcore: Fights are much more difficult and monsters attack even more often. If you die, all your items and skills are lost forever. You cannot use portals.
  • Immersive: You cannot use a map or portals here.
  • Hammer Mode: In this mode you can build all buildings for free. There are no attacks on your base, the difficulty settings are normal – This is the new creative mode, so to speak.
  • Casual: Monsters will only attack you if you provoke them. There are no attacks on your base. There are more resources than usual and if you die you don’t lose any items or skills.

If you don’t like the presets and instead want to select all the settings yourself, you can do that below. There you can set exactly how hard fights should be, how many items you lose when you die, how many resources there are and how often your base is attacked.

Additionally, you can choose not to have a map, portals, free building, and so on. Everything can be adjusted according to your wishes and should also be able to be changed later in your existing worlds when the update comes.

Players are enthusiastic and make further suggestions

There are numerous replies below the tweet. Players have additional suggestions, ask questions, complain about performance issues in the survival game, or just look forward to the modes. Some of them say that they now want to return because Valheim appeals to them again.

We summarize a few of the votes for you:

  • the_swizzler: “Looks like cool options. I like the game as it is, but games of this type often help when they offer different options.”
  • Coni: “OMG that’s so cool.”
  • Rufus West: “This is great for the Xbox. Newer players have an easier time learning the game. I initially wished for a beginner mode myself to change the difficulty level.”
  • JZBeasty: “Seeing this makes me extremely happy. Not just the presets, but the customization options to really customize the experience.”
  • quietscribe: “I would like an option to build skills faster. For example, learning the spellcasting skill takes so long and it would be great if you didn’t have to grind so much.”
  • MiniHerc: “Please tell me there is an option not to lose items/skills when you die. Then I could start the game again.”
  • When is the update coming? It is still unclear when the Valheim developers will bring the modifications into play. As soon as there is an appointment, we will of course inform you about it.

What do you think of the different modifications? Are you excited to play Valheim in a different way? Are you more likely to be in hard mode or casual? Write it to us in the comments here on MeinMMO!
