The anesthesia nurse put herself to sleep and collapsed during a surgical procedure. Now she has been reported and suspended from work, reports Skånska Dagbladet.

The anesthesia nurse suddenly collapsed during an ongoing surgical procedure at a clinic in Malmö. The colleagues discovered that she had a so-called venous access in the crease of her arm. She recovered after a couple of minutes and later admitted that she had injected the sleep aid Propofol.

Those responsible at the clinic have not received any clarifying explanation from the nurse, who is described as a trusted employee, as to why she injected the sleeping drug. The incident has been reported to the Inspectorate for Care and Care (Ivo) and the nurse has been reported to the police, suspended from work and offered support from occupational health care.

The operation could be completed after both the anesthesiologist and another anesthesia nurse were called.
