Night burglary – stole canaries for SEK 150,000

It was on the night of Saturday at 03.30 that the police received an alarm about a warehouse burglary in Halmstad. A “not so big man” stole canaries from a private person to a value of between SEK 130,000 and 150,000.

– This means that there are quite a lot of birds, I think, says police spokesperson Thomas Fuxborg.

“An odd case to say the least,” says police spokesperson Thomas Fuxborg.

On the night of Saturday, a storage room at Plönningegymnasiet in Halmstad was broken into. The prey was several canaries.

– The person who calls us is a good friend of the person who owns the canaries. The friend calls the police and says there is a burglary in progress.

See the man who stole the birds

– They have camera surveillance in this warehouse and a motion detector. They see through the camera how a man walks inside this storeroom where the birds are kept.

The two acquaintances head towards the storehouse with the birds and on the way there they meet a dark blue car driving away. Once at the storage room, the door is broken open.

– There are a number of cages missing and the amount they stated yesterday was between SEK 130,000-150,000. That means that there are quite a lot of birds, I think, says Thomas Fuxborg.

Looking for a “not so big” man

You are looking for a “not so big” man. What does it mean?

– I can only guess that it means that you are not so tall and not so strong. That was the information we got, that’s what we got to work on. It must have been a man and not a child.

– We will hear the plaintiff again about what he means by the description, says Fuxborg.
