New server wipe in Escape from Tarkov is considered the worst ever

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Every gamer knows hackers and cheaters who do everything they can to cause trouble with unfair means. In Escape from Tarkov, on the other hand, this anger is increasing more and more, because since the last server wipe these cheaters have become more and more brazen.

What’s going on in Escape from Tarkov? Battlestate Games’ extraction shooter has had a hard time dealing with cheaters and hackers since its last server wipe on December 28, 2022. Players even report such audacity that hackers don’t even try to hide their unfair deeds (via reddit.com).

Players get shot in the head by aim bots from impossible distances or get killed right at spawn without a chance to enjoy the game. It even goes so far that fans start boycotting the shooter until the situation improves.

Tarkov has inspired many other games and created the extraction shooter subgenre. Marauders combines the approach with space action:

Cheaters have no remorse and obviously cheat

What are the players saying? There are now two posts on reddit where players have the chance to talk about the impossible cheating states. The mercenaries report on incidents like this one from reddit user orbtl:

I’ve only been playing for 5 wipes, but this is by far the worst wipe for obvious cheaters in my experience. I do everything to avoid them.

I don’t take expensive kits with me. I avoid hotspots with good loot. Hell, today I literally sat in a bush with nothing but a Mosin, eating a sandwich and waiting for the map to be swept clean so I could get some Scav kills.

A hacker ran over a hill and gave me a headshot from behind before showing himself visually. And I hadn’t moved or made a sound in 15 minutes.

Like these people don’t even hide it, and it happens multiple times a day. There may have been suspicious kills in previous wipes as well. But these super-obvious hackers who don’t even hide it, I might have encountered them twice in one whole wipe.

And he’s not the only one. Reddit user twitch-superc00l also talks about the current status of Escape from Tarkov. Fans share their tips on how to avoid these cheaters, but here’s all he has to say:

As I can RESPECTFULLY say, you may be right about your methods of dodging cheaters, but it’s nowhere near a real solution. I’m so tired of hearing people say “wait in bushes”, “don’t bring gear” etc etc to avoid cheaters. This crap needs to get into a workable solution.

The community needs to stop avoiding cheaters in this way unless it’s absolutely necessary to complete a difficult task or something. Imagine you have 2 hours a night to gamble and you spend 40 minutes in a bush waiting for cheaters to clean the map. […]

Basically, all the reddit threads seem like the cheaters are mocking honest players and delighting in getting on the nerves of the fans.

What do the developers say about this? So far there has been no statement from the developer, but the players agree that nothing or only late action will be taken against these hackers. The community wants to enjoy the extraction shooter, but there are some players who can’t do it anymore and are taking a break until active action is taken against these cheaters.

What do you think of the current situation in Escape from Tarkov? Do you deal with such hackers yourself or do you not understand the opinions of the community? Please leave us a comment!
