New series on Netflix hit Young Sheldon returns to the roots with big changes

Fans of the comedy series Young Sheldon can dry their tears. The Big Bang Theory prequel, which can be streamed on Netflix, among others, is scheduled to end with the seventh season this year. But it will shortly afterwards reappear on the scene with a spin-off. And surprise the community with a big change. Young Sheldon spin-off continues the Big Bang Theory universe in the old style

As Deadline reports, preparations are currently underway for a Young Sheldon spin-off about Sheldon’s older brother Georgie (Montana Jordan) and his girlfriend Mandy (Emily Osment) completed. Jordan and Osment are set to return in their roles. Further details about the story, such as when exactly the spin-off takes place, are not yet known. If Sheldon himself appears in the spin-off, he will likely be portrayed by Young Sheldon lead actor Iain Armitage, according to the report.

The spin-off should also return to the so-called multi-camera format of The Big Bang Theory parent series. Young Sheldon, on the other hand, was filmed in the single-camera format, in which scenes are only shot with one camera at a time. Single-camera formats often allow a more personal, intimate look at the individual characters, while multi-camera series like Friends require less effort and provide a typical sitcom look.

When will the Young Sheldon spin-off come to Netflix and Co.?

The Young Sheldon spin-off is scheduled to appear on US TV in late 2024 or early 2025. It is not yet known whether this will also be shown on Netflix.

Season 7 of Young Sheldon will air in the USA on CBS from February 2024. In Germany, the series will first be shown on ProSieben after a few months delay. The finale will probably not be shown on Netflix until 2025.
