A budget deficit due to legally required tasks means cutbacks in other areas. A few years ago, Montfoort already lost the library. In the meantime, a library function is returning to Montfoort through the Asscher funds. “But if we get more tasks, we may have to stop doing that again. While a library is a facility that really belongs to a municipality. It is too crazy for words to say: you have to do this. But then there are insufficient resources to implement it and then it will be difficult for municipalities,” says Van Hartskamp.
