Moa Ilar reveals the reason behind Frida Karlsson and Ebba Andersson’s fiasco – after the chaos in the World Cup: “Very important”

In the 10 kilometer race in Östersund, everything went wrong for the Swedes.
Now it has been explained.
– We received a serious message from Anders (Svanebo, head of the herd), says Moa Ilar to Expressen.

The Swedish cross-country ladies have really had a fantastic start to the World Cup season. In five out of seven races so far, there has been a Swede at the top of the podium, and they have really made us proud.

Andersson & Karlsson

Emma Ribom and Ebba Andersson have taken two victories each, and Moa Ilar has taken a win (his first career World Cup victory). We have also had, among other things Lynn Svahn, Jonna Sundling and Frida Karlsson on the podium. Simply a good start to the season. Until that 10 kilometer race in Östersund.

Then the best Swede, who we are used to seeing at the top, was Ebba Andersson in ninth place. Frida Karlsson did her worst distance race in her career when she came 23rd. After the race, everyone wondered the same thing – what happened? Occasionally the material was mentioned as a potential cause, but tests needed to be done before anything could be determined.

Ilar reveals

Now the reason behind the fiasco that we have been waiting for has arrived. It is Moa Ilar who tells Expressen:
– We received a substantial message from Anders (Swan nest, paddock manager) where there was an explanation of what went wrong. It was about top products and hand structure, but also that some skiers had the wrong base grind on their skis, which made it even worse, says the 26-year-old.

Moa Ilar ended up in 18th place in 10 kilometer freestyle in Östersund, her worst result of the season. She finds it a relief to now know the truth.
– It is very important and very nice that we can have that communication and put the cards on the table and tell how it was. This instills great confidence in the dikes. There was nothing wrong with the body, but a material that was not competitive, says Ilar to the evening newspaper.
