(Finance) – The Group Leaders’ Conference in Montecitorio decided that the provision on wage minimum will be examined in the Chamber on December 4th. Also on Monday and still in general discussion, the European enabling law and the referendum decree will also begin their process in the Chamber. While the measure on tourist guides is expected in the Chamber on Wednesday 6 December and the final vote on the following day, 7 December.

There Labor Commission from the Room gave the green light to the majority amendment that cancels the proposal from the oppositions on the topic. The approved text instead provides for a delegation to the government to be exercised within six months. Among the objectives, the need to “guarantee the implementation of the right of every male and female worker to proportionate and sufficient remuneration, as enshrined in Article 36 of the Constitution”. The opposition was against it and saw their proposal blocked and abandoned the work in the Chamber. “They have compressed parliamentary time, thus killing the minimum wage with a delegation to the government. We are not complicit in this havoc of parliamentary democracy”, declared the leader of the Democratic Party in the Labor Committee in the Chamber, Arthur Scotto.

In detail, the amendment approved by the majority which transforms the opposition’s bill on the minimum wage into one delegation to the government provides that, in order to guarantee the implementation of the right of every male and female worker to proportionate and sufficient remuneration, “the Government is delegated to adopt, within six months from the date of entry into force of this law, upon proposal of the Minister of Labor and Social Policies, in agreement with the Minister of Economy and Finance, in compliance with public finance constraints and community provisions, one or more legislative decrees aimed at intervening in the matter of workers’ remuneration and collective bargaining ”.

The aim is to achieve some objectives, including “ensuring workers treatments remunerative just and fair; combat underpaid work, also in relation to specific models organizational of work And categories of workers; stimulate the renewal of collective agreements in compliance with the deadlines established by the social partners, in the interests of workers; combat contractual dumping, which causes phenomena of unfair competition through the proliferation of contractual systems aimed at lowering labor costs and reducing worker protections”.
