Marvel star Dave Bautista is tired of only being given action roles

Dave Bautista pursues his acting career with incredible dedication. Unlike many of his colleagues from the circle of former wrestlers, he does not want to commit himself to a role profile. He shows his talent for action and comedy with his MCU appearances, but has already shown sensitivity to quiet sounds in Blade Runner 2049, for example. Only romantic roles are missing. He revealed to the tabloid Page Six:

I know I’m not your typical romantic comedy actor. I look a little rough. But I look at myself in the mirror and think: “Am I that unattractive? Is there something that keeps me out of these roles?” I’ve never been offered a role like this before. But I’m still looking.

Unlike his self-doubt, Bautista’s displeasure is certainly not unfounded. Regardless of their actual talent, some stars can have a hard time escaping their roles. Even extremely successful actors like Dwayne Johnson or Vin Diesel will not come to many people’s minds as first candidates for romantic roles.

Bautista’s Hollywood future offers anything but dull action monotony. He is briefly seen as a vision-ridden intruder in Knock at the Cabin. May 3, 2023 will be followed by his probably last MCU appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Later this year, he stars in Dune 2 as a sinister sci-fi badass.
