Luleå’s Petra Nieminen defends the measure: “A really nice tackle”

Early in the first period, Luleå’s Petra Nieminen handed out a tackle to Hanna Olsson, who had to be led off the ice.

SVT Sports expert Maria Rooth wanted at least one expulsion. Something that the Finn missed.

– The judges miss it, it’s a quick situation. It should be at least a second and even a fifth if not more, Rooth said.

Now Petra Nieminen defends her tackle.

– I saw that the puck went to Hanna and I was ready with a normal shoulder to shoulder. I think it was a really nice match and then everyone has to be ready now that we can be tackled. So it’s not always my fault. It is also the person who receives the tackle who bears responsibility, she tells SVT Sport.

Injury status unclear

Frölunda’s coach Erika Holst has not seen the situation in hindsight but felt that Hanna was not aware that the Luleå player was coming.

– I expect the judges to have a clue out there.

Hanna Olsson’s injury status is still unclear.

– I hope we will receive information during the evening or tomorrow, concludes Holst.
